Forget the Economy, Stupid. Let's Start A Fight Over Birth Control!

The Democrats, aided by the network news and the usual liberal cable news outlets like CNN and MSNBC, know they can't let the upcoming election be focused on Obama's failed economy.  To their credit, they've managed to turn the topic of discussion on to social issues.  Everyone was astonished when Obama declared that religion-based insurers would be forced to cover abortions and birth control under ObamaCare.  Religious leaders were outraged.  They were equally surprised when he did a quick pseudo walk-back, and decreed that birth control would be provided free of charge.

Besides the Constitutional issues surrounding Obama's dictator impersonation, this was unsatisfactory for religious leaders on the grounds of freedom of religion, and they publicly stated as much.  The very next day, viola'! We have a new bully in town and the Democrats have a new straw man to fight.  Democrats (which includes ABC, CBS, NBC, NY Times, Washington Post, etc.) immediately began pushing the narrative that 'Republicans are against birth control!'.

I have been saying the Democrats needed a new slogan, something besides 'Republicans want to take your Social Security!', and we now have it.  To a liberal, being opposed to offering something for free is akin to being opposed to that thing's existence.

To the casual observer, it'll be "something about Republicans fighting against birth control".  Poor Mrs. Smith, the soccer mom, will dutifully vote for Obama even though she knows his economy sucks.  That's their plan, anyway.  I'm confident that it will not be enough to save Obama's failed Carter-era Keynesian nightmare.  Elections are almost always centered on the economy, (the exception is when we're in a major war) and with a poor economy, Obama is doomed.

Democrats' response when confronted with things like this? "Well Republicans cheat, so we cheat too." Of course, they never offer evidence of GOP cheating. They only offer assertions by media or Democrat party leaders.

Hardcore Madison Progressive, Rep. Tammy Baldwin, runs for Senate in Wisconsin

Tammy Baldwin gave a speech immediately before Barack Obama at the 2004 Democrat Convention.  She was considered one of DC's up-and-coming stars.  She's very photogenic, soft spoken, and intelligent.  Even I kind of like her, politics aside, as her personality shows in interviews immediately.  She seems a likeable person.

She represents Madison, WI, so she's not used to running a tough campaign, but I think she's going to be a very formidable opponent.  She's been openly lesbian as long as I've ever heard of her in politics, and she's been known in Wisconsin for quite some time, partially for that reason. Name recognition is huge, however, regardless of its original source.

These things all make me wish Tammy Baldwin would just stay at her cozy little spot here in Madison, and enjoy the.. um.. Progness of it all.

Latest Cynical Obama Speech Full of Clever Word-Twisters

Listen to how Obama manages to blame Bush again, then while proclaiming that we need to cut spending, refers to 'tax breaks' as spending.

As we've seen, 'tax breaks' are some arbitrary high tax rate, imagined by Democrats, that is NOT being paid.  So if somebody is recieving a 'tax break', this is 'spending'.  Using the phrase, 'tax break' infers that US tax law has somehow taken steps through legislation and tax code to provide this 'tax break', when in fact, that is false.  As I stated, the current tax rates for anyone whom King Obama has decided is not fair and should be much higher is, a 'tax break'.

This guy is a typical lawyer with a mission, over-educated wordsmith. He's an elitist Prog, subscriber to the Ruling Class who couldn't tell you what's really going on if it would save his life.  We will never hear George Soros criticize Barack Obama.
